Kabul assured Islamabad of maintaining a peaceful western border during the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India, following a diplomatic meeting in Kabul. Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq Khan, successfully negotiated with Afghan officials, including Interior Minister Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, in a trilateral meeting with China’s envoy, Yue Xiaoyong, to enhance regional cooperation.
The meeting, aimed at strengthening political and economic ties, also focused on integrating Afghanistan into China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Haqqani emphasized the importance of mutual respect and constructive engagement for advancing regional relations. Additionally, the Pakistani and Chinese envoys met with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, who assured continued support for Pakistan amidst rising tensions. Both sides discussed expanding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan and fostering greater trade cooperation.
