ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared May 11 as ‘Youm-e-Tashakkur’ to commemorate Pakistan’s powerful military response and the success of ‘Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos’ against Indian aggression. The day will be observed to express gratitude to Allah, honor the bravery of the armed forces, and appreciate national unity.
In his statement, the Prime Minister lauded the armed forces for their resilience and readiness, noting that Pakistan had maintained its defense and responded effectively to India’s provocations. He emphasized the nation’s unwavering solidarity with the military, which stood firm in the face of aggression.
The Prime Minister urged the nation and religious leaders to offer prayers, especially for the martyrs and Ghazis, acknowledging the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s forces in safeguarding the country.
The announcement followed a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, brokered by the United States after four days of intense clashes. US President Donald Trump confirmed the ceasefire, which took effect after diplomatic efforts from multiple countries. Both sides had exchanged missile and drone strikes, marking the worst escalation in nearly 30 years.
