Fighting human trafficking

AM heartbroken on the tragic accident involving a boat carrying immigrants on their journey from Mauritania to Spain. As many as 44 Pakistanis lost their lives in the middle of the ocean while pursuing a better future for themselves and their families.

This is not just the loss of lives, but the destruction of 44 families. In the last few months alone, hundreds of Pakistanis have perished in their attempt to escape the hardships of their homeland.

After every such tragedy, the government holds meetings and calls for an urgent inquiry report. The accident becomes a top trend in electronic, print, and social media. But after a few days of outrage, everything returns to normal until another tragedy strikes.

When will we see real action? Who is responsible for the blood of my fellow Pakistanis? When will the government succeed in providing a brighter future to our youth? No one wants to leave their loved ones, but hunger, unemployment and injustice force them to do so. The authorities should take serious action to combat the human trafficking menace in Pakistan.
