Faculty, staff told to pull up socks to achieve goals as Dr Zahoor takes UoG helm

GUJRAT: Prof Dr Zahoorul Haq took the helm of the University of Gujrat (UoG) on Monday, becoming its fifth vice chancellor. A notification issued by the Higher Education Department of the Government of Punjab appointed him for a period of four years.

Prof Dr Zahoorul Haq, a distinguished scholar and academician, was awarded Tamga-Imtiaz for his invaluable contributions to promote the cause of higher education and research.

Dr Zahoorul Haq specializes in Agricultural Economics and Business, holding a doctorate from the University of Guelph, Canada.

“Knowledge being a fundamental right, facilitating students and addressing their problems during their stay at the campus is the university’s primary responsibility,” said the new VC, urging the faculty and administration staff to pull up their socks to achieve their goals.

“Making fair and honest decisions and focusing on research publications is crucial for success,” Dr Zahoorul Haq stressed, adding “it will go a long way towards establishing a society based on justice and equality which is our aim”.

The meeting concluded with a prayer for the late daughter of the founding vice chancellor, Dr Nizamuddin.
