Multan sees a 45pc drop in crime rate in 2024

MULTAN: In 2024, Multan experienced a notable enhancement in its law and order situation, with the city witnessing a substantial 45 per cent drop in the overall crime rate, it was reported on Wednesday.
This improvement came as a result of effective policing strategies, including increased patrols, the establishment of strategic checkpoints, and proactive crime prevention initiatives.
According to a police spokesperson, the success can largely be attributed to the leadership of City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar. Under his guidance, the police force effectively dismantled several criminal networks and recovered stolen goods worth over Rs 1 billion, including cash, vehicles, jewelry, and other valuables.
The crackdown on crime resulted in significant declines in robberies, dacoities, and house thefts, helping to restore a sense of safety among local residents. The spokesperson added that Multan's police also stepped up their efforts against serious crimes, leading to the arrest of hundreds of suspects in cases related to murder, attempted murder, rape, and child abuse. The successful resolution of numerous kidnapping cases further solidified public trust in the police force.
In the ongoing battle against narcotics, authorities seized large quantities of illegal drugs and detained thousands of individuals involved in drug-related offenses. At the same time, a stringent approach was adopted against illegal activities such as the possession of firearms, gambling, and kite flying, further contributing to the city's security.
The year also saw the conclusion of several high-risk operations, in which notorious criminals were either apprehended or neutralized. Along with the arrest of numerous fugitives, these efforts underscored the determination of the police to keep the city peaceful.
CPO Sadiq Ali Dogar praised his team's collective efforts and emphasized that the success was the result of meticulous planning and hard work. Looking ahead, he expressed his commitment to further improving Multan's security in 2025, with a continued focus on crime prevention.
The significant reduction in crime and the restoration of public confidence have marked a major achievement for Multan, ensuring that the safety and well-being of its citizens remain a priority.
