NA speaker bans mobile video recording in press gallery ahead of key session

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has imposed a ban on recording mobile videos from the press gallery, just ahead of a crucial session of the house.

The ruling, announced on Sunday, prohibits journalists from using cell phones to capture videos during the assembly proceedings from the gallery.

During the session, Speaker Sadiq directly addressed the press, stating, “Please refrain from making mobile videos from the press gallery,” as part of the newly enforced restrictions.

Both the Senate and National Assembly sessions are scheduled to resume today at Parliament House, Islamabad. The ongoing constitutional amendments, which were initially set for presentation during the delayed sessions, have been deferred to Sunday (today).

On Saturday, JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence became the hub of political activity, with high-profile visits from Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and BNP (Mengal) leader Akhtar Mengal.

The National Assembly session, which commenced after a significant delay, lasted only a few minutes, while the Senate session started three hours late, with several key government lawmakers notably absent.
