Punjab govt to buy 27 quadcopters for surveillance, counter-terror operations

LAHORE: On the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, 27 quad copters will be purchased for surveillance and counter-terrorism operations in Punjab on Friday.

In this regard, the Punjab Cabinet has approved the summary of the Punjab Home Department regarding the purchase of modern quadcopters.

Moreover, Rs210.4 million has been sanctioned for purchase of modern quadcopters.

The government decided to purchase 20 surveillance quadcopters for Attock, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, DG Khan, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan while seven quadcopters carrying payload for Mianwali, DG Khan, Rajanpur and Rahimyar Khan will be purchased.

Payload-carrying quadcopters can fire two 80mm mortar shells at a target at a time.

Punjab Interior Secretary said in this regard that we are providing ample resources against terrorists and criminal elements which will help in establishing rule of law in Kacha areas and border areas.
