Gujranwala woman commits suicide over hefty electricity bill

GUJURANWALA: A woman, distressed by a hefty electricity bill, committed suicide by jumping into a nullah.

According to reports, Razia Bibi, who was receiving treatment for various illnesses, was faced with an unexpectedly high electricity bill. After paying the bill, she had no funds left for her medical treatment or other essential needs.

Overwhelmed by her situation, Razia Bibi took her own life by jumping into a nullah. Rescue teams are currently searching for her body.

Power Division responds to free electricity claims

The Ministry of Power Division has denied recent media reports alleging that parliamentarians and bureaucrats receive free electricity.

In a statement released on Sunday, a ministry spokesperson clarified that no free electricity is provided to these individuals or to any government institutions.
