ISLAMABAD:Â The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has adjourned the hearing against former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry to June 26.
The case involves charges of using intemperate language and making contemptuous remarks during a media interaction on January 24.
A three-member ECP bench, led by member Nisar Durrani, presided over Tuesday’s proceedings.
During the session, Hasan Sajjad, assistant lawyer for Fawad Chaudhry, requested that the former minister be excused from appearing on Tuesday and Wednesday due to his scheduled presence at the Lahore High Court.
The lawyer submitted that Chaudhry would be busy responding to another case at the LHC, urging the bench to consider his client’s other legal commitments.
In response, a bench member questioned the feasibility of granting an attendance exemption for the following day during the current day’s hearing. Consequently, the ECP bench decided to postpone the proceedings to June 26.
