During a recent promotional interview for their web series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” Bollywood actors Richa Chadha and Aditi Rao Hydari shared some light-hearted banter with their co-star Sharmin Segal, who happens to be the niece of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Chadha jokingly suggested that she and Segal shouldn’t sit together, while Hydari teased Segal about taking the longest to get ready during the shoot.
Segal mentioned her culinary skills, claiming credit for being a good chef alongside acting, which surprised Chadha. Chadha playfully mocked Segal with slow claps, questioning if cutting vegetables for a salad was evidence of her talent. Hydari chimed in, mentioning her own culinary abilities, with Chadha humorously suggesting they shouldn’t sit together.
During the conversation, the actor from “Padmaavat” noted that among the six actresses on the show, Segal took the longest time to prepare for her scenes. Co-stars Fardeen Khan and Taha Shah concurred with this observation.
In her defense, Segal remarked, “Aditi is like a diligent schoolgirl. If the teacher sets a deadline for homework, Aditi will adhere to it precisely, without adding unnecessary words to the essay. So, according to her, everyone else is late, and she is punctual.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated digital debut, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” delves into the lives of courtesans in Lahore’s red-light district during pre-independent India.
The eight-episode web series, featuring Richa Chadha as Lajjo, Sharmin Segal as Alamzeb, and Aditi Rao Hydari as Bibbojan, alongside Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Farida Jalal, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar and Adhyayan Suman, and Taha Shah, premiered on Netflix on May 1st.
