No clue about ‘missing’ PTI-backed MNA from Sarai Alamgir

GUJRAT: There is no clue in the ‘search’ for the whereabouts of Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas, the PTI-backed winning independent candidate from NA-62, Sarai Alamgir, went missing a couple of days ago while going to Islamabad to join the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

According to the party, although it has not been confirmed yet whether Ch Ilyas was arrested or whisked away, his family, however, alleges he was taken away by some unidentified men from near the bridge on River Jhelum. His family members are worried and fear for his safety.

On Tuesday, the Jhelum Police had registered an FIR on the complaint of Ilyas’s cousin in which it was stated that the newly-elected MNA was abducted on his way to Islamabad.

A spokesman for Jhelum Police had stated that the police launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping of the MNA-elect.
