LHC to hear Imran’s plea against jail trial in contempt of ECP tomorrow

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday fixed the hearing of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder’s petition against jail trial in contempt of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) case.

A three member bench headed by Justice Aliya Neelam will hear the case on Jan 29 (Monday). The court has sought the arguments about the jurisdiction of the LHC in the case.

The court has also ordered the petitioner’s counsel to present detailed documents before the court.

The PTI founder has filed petition against the jail trial in contempt of the ECP case in the LHC.

Last week, the LHC also annulled the decision on cancellation of bail pleas of Imran Khan in seven cases of May 9.

The PTI founder was indicted in the ECP contempt case on account of disrespecting Chief of ECP and the institution.
