Selected democracy

It was during Ayub Khan’s reign in the 1960s that we frequently heard that democracy was not suitable for the people of Pakistan. Unfortunately, for the last seven dcedes, we, the people, have never had real democracy in the country. Nowadays, frequent remarks by various politicians that the future prime minister has already been ‘selected’ makes many a people wonder why we should have elections at all.
