Citizens, cops feel insecure as IG Islamabad demands bulletproof vehicle

ISLAMABAD: The demand of Inspector General (IGP) of Islamabad Police for a bulletproof vehicle has added to the growing sense of insecurity among the citizens as well as police officials cops.

The citizens have expressed annoyance and disappointment over the IG’s demand for a bulletproof vehicle, saying if a top police officer who enjoys extraordinary protocol and guard 24 hours can demand such a facility what the public should think about.

According to a letter provided by the Islamabad Police, the Threat Assessment Committee has also supported the demand of the Islamabad IG police. The seven-member committee has recommended to the authorities to provide the IGP a bullet-proof vehicle.

The Threat Assessment Committee Police have also written a letter to the district administration for the provision of the vehicle.

The letter stated that the IG Islamabad Police was facing security threats to his life.

Therefore, bulletproof vehicle should be provided to IG Islamabad on permanent basis, it added.

The letter further stated that Islamabad Police have no protected vehicle for security of its personnel and officials.

Meanwhile, Islamabad IG Police Dr Akbar Nasir demanded a bullet-proof vehicle citing security threats to his life.

Other the other hand, the district administration sources said that IG Islamabad has no security threat.
