Court sentences child rapist to death on 3 counts

PESHAWAR: The Child Protection Court, presided over by Judge Hina Mehwish on Thursday has pronounced a death penalty three times over and imposed a one-million-rupee fine on the perpetrator responsible for the horrifying sexual assault, murder, and subsequent burning of an 8-year-old girl.

The accused, known as Asif Raza, alias Maling, was found guilty of the heinous crime, which sent shockwaves through the community. He had brutally assaulted the young girl before taking her life, and then callously incinerated her remains. The incident, which transpired on November 18, 2020, prompted widespread outrage, leading to the closure of Kohat Road by local residents for several days.

The accused was charged under various sections, including 302, 364, and 376, at the Badh Bir police station. Following a thorough investigation, the case was presented before the court, which has now delivered a stern judgment. As a result, the convicted individual has been sentenced to death three times, signifying the gravity of the crimes committed, and has also been ordered to pay a substantial fine of one million rupees.
