Pinjra Pull

Pinjra Pull, which literally means ‘Cage Bridge’, was constructed in Balochistan’s Bolan Pass area in the days of British India. The bridge exists in the valley of Bolan, where a large number of people use it frequently to travel from Quetta to Sibi and Naseerabad.

However, due to the last year’s flash floods that wreaked havoc across Pakistan, the bridge could not sustain the heavy flooding and collapsed. Now, the Pinjra Pull has become a major challenge to overcome for the people. They are just stuck on either side of the bridge. As an alternative means of transport, passengers have been relying on trains, but with little chance of getting one on time.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) should pay attention to the matter. The length of the bridge is no longer than one kilometre, and it should not be beyond the means and competence of NHA to set things right quickly.
