Defective tracks forced PR to increase traveling duration of passengers’ trains

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Railways (PR) has further increased traveling duration of all the passenger trains that coming or going for Karachi owning to the defective condition of main line 1 (ML-1) Railways tracks running between Karachi and Sukkur divisions.

The increased running time of all the trains was one hour and five minutes as this strange tactic adopted owing to engineering restrictions of Karachi Division and Sukkur Division. The sources revealed that Divisions issued these restrictions due the poor conditions of railways tracks.
By increasing the running time, the vehicles running on the above mentioned tracks would reach their destination by taking one hour and five more time, but the time limit of the passenger trains could be shown accurate in related papers.

Now after the increased of traveling duration the Green Line train travel time will be increased by 23 hours and 25 minutes instead of 22 hours and 20 minutes and the minimum time from Karachi to Lahore will increase to 18 hours and 15 minutes. Traveling time has been increased by 30 minutes in Karachi Division and 35 minutes in Sukkur Division.

According to documents available to this news agency Pakistan Railways has increased the running time of all passenger trains from Karachi to the interior and from the interior to Karachi by one hour and five minutes has been added, due to which the trains will reach the destination one hour and five minutes late. By adding one more hour in the timetable, the vehicle will reach within the specified time. Among the passengers’ trains that could be affected the Mulat Express will complete its journey between Karachi and Lala Musa in 25 hours and 10 minutes instead of 24 hours and 5 minutes. Zakaria Express will complete its journey in 16 hours and 15 minutes instead of 17 hours and 20 minutes, Shalimar Express 19 hours instead of 17 hours 55 minutes, Pakistan Express 28 hours, 55 minutes instead of 27 hours 50 minutes, Rehman Baba 29 hours 15 minutes instead of 28 hours 10 minutes, Sukkur 12 hours 50 minutes instead of 12 hours, Allama Iqbal Express instead of 24 hours 15 minutes. 25 hours 20 minutes, Hazara Express 34 hours 5 minutes instead of 33 hours, Karachi Express 19 hours instead of 17 hours 55 minutes, Pak Business 18 hours 15 minutes instead of 17 hours 10 minutes, Farid Express 26 hours 5 minutes instead of 25 hours, Karakoram Express 18 hours 40 minutes instead of 17 hours 35 minutes, Khyber Mail 31 hours. 32 hours 15 minutes instead of 10 minutes, Green Line will reach its destination in 23 hours 25 minutes instead of 22 hours 20 minutes and Tezgam will reach its destination in 26 hours 10 minutes instead of 25 hours 5 minutes.

Due to the increase in the running time of the trains, the passenger trains which were delayed will now arrive at the scheduled time, 30 minutes Karachi Division and 35 minutes Sukkur Division. The duration of the journey has been extended. The spokesman said that the increase in running time is due to engineering restrictions on the track to make the journey safer.
