Nawaz expected to arrive in Jeddah on April 11 to spend Ramadan end

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is set to land in Jeddah with his family on April 11 from London. His daughter, Maryam Nawaz, and other Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders will join him in the Saudi port city.

Sharif is expected to spend the last 10 days of Ramadan as a royal guest in Saudi Arabia, according to his party. He will spend three days in Mecca and Jeddah before visiting the Prophet’s mosque in Medina.

Additionally, it has been reported that the Saudi royal family have invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on a pilgrimage.

Sharif, whose Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is the main party in Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), was sacked by the Supreme Court in 2017 and, two years later, left for London for medical treatment.

While there has been no official confirmation from Sharif or his party regarding his plans to return to Pakistan, his trip to Saudi Arabia has raised interest in his potential political comeback.
