Women athletes outshine men in Karachi NBP’s marathon event

ISLAMABAD: Nadia Khan clinched the first position in 12 km marathon race category, while Faisalabad’s athlete Waqas Talha of Faisalabad remained first in 7.5 km race category for men, whereas Mumtaz Nemat secured 1st position in the same category for women in the event held by the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) at Seaview in Karachi.

According to a report on Sunday, NBP Commissioner Karachi Marathon-4 started from the point of Nishan-e-Pakistan at Karachi coast and ended at the same point.

People from all walks of life participated in the event. Moreover, differently-abled people also got a chance to showcase their talents.

The marathon-4 was held in 3 categories. The first category was 1.1 km, the second category was 12 km for both men and women and the third category was 7.5 km for both men and women, respectively.

The athletes who participated in the marathon termed this event as welcoming one.

Rangers and police personnel were also on duty for the security of Marathon-4, while relief teams also performed their services in the event.
