Tariq Fatemi appointed SAPM, once again

ISLAMABAD: Federal government has appointed Tariq Fatemi as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister once again as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the appointment.

A notification of the Fatemi's appointment with status of minister of state was issued on Monday.

Tariq Fatemi was earlier appointed SAPM on Foreign Affairs, however, his appointment was revoked the very next day. According to media reports, Fatemi's appointment was reversed due to observations by the military establishment.

Fatemi became controversial after his alleged role in the Dawn leaks and he had become a casualty of tensions between the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif and military establishment of the day after Dawn leaks controversy on April 29, 2017.  The Prime Minister's Office had issued directives to remove Tariq Fatemi after an inquiry had found him involved in 'Dawn leaks'.
