Minister calls on students to support flood victims

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal urged the students to become community mobilizers and prepare food for children and mothers in flood-affected areas.

Iqbal made the appeal while addressing the conference on the International Day of Peace, organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The minister said he had asked the HEC to set the target of two million nutrition packs supported by university students.

The food packs will be distributed among the flood-affected people, especially among mothers and children in the next ten days through the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), he added.

Iqbal further added that one-third of the country has been submerged by floods and reiterated that the government is making all efforts for the rehabilitation of the flood-affected areas.
