Army Act to be ‘invoked’ over seditious remarks by any political worker

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police booked PTI leader Shahbaz Gill with various sections for inciting rebellion, intrigue and tumult within the ranks of the army.

In the prevailing scenario of the country, the government has decided to invoke the Army Act. According to sources, “Any such attempt by a political worker of any party in the future will be dealt with strictly. There will be no hesitation in invoking the Army Act in the future.”

It is to be noted here that under the Army Act, the minimum punishment for the crime is life imprisonment and the maximum punishment is death.

It has been learnt that top leadership of the army showed restraint once again and did not order any arrest under the Army Act.

‘VENOMOUS’ SHAHBAZ GILL HAS RIGHT TO FAIR TRIAL

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Farhatullah Babar said on Wednesday said that PTI leader Shehbaz Gill, who was picked up from near Banigala residence of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan Tuesday, only spat venom at his party’s opponents.

In a statement, Farhatullah Babar accused the PTI leader of spreading hatred through what he called his “lies.” The PPP leader, however, said that despite his loose talk, Gill had the right to a fair trial.
