Surging cybercrime in Pakistan

Increasing crimes are being committed via the internet, computers and mobiles. Technology is a double-edged sword and it is helping the best and the worst of humankind. Where technology has immensely benefited humankind with its advent, it has also done much damage. In all eras, society has been divided between those who have actively participated in doing good and those who have taken sides with the wrong although there might be circumstances at play in the back.

Crime has taken a new and refined form and the line which distinguishes something as crime is being blurred by the fact that the technology being generated and the ways being devised by which information is manipulated for personal benefit or organised crime committed are increasing at a much higher rate than the ways in which the government can ever work to eradicate it.

The need of the hour is to make people aware of these declining conditions so that they can be on guard of this new threat to their security. They should be aware of internet frauds, robbers, kidnappers and the like which use the internet to get their way.

Currently, the media has not presented this as a pressing issue as it actually is, nor did the government take any visible action against it because there are no laws for such offenders. It is high time that the exploitation of technology is brought to serious consideration.
