PMC response sought in license case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a notice to the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) in a case pertaining to the cancellation of a doctor’s practice license.

A bench led by newly-appointed Justice Babar Sattar heard the petition seeking a restraining order against the cancellation of the license.

During the hearing, the plaintiff informed the court his client’s license was revoked two years ago over what he claimed was a botched operation. He said while a medical tribunal was formed to look into the matter, the inquiry remained inactive.

Justice Sattar observed that the court could not issue a stay order without hearing the PMC’s version and issued a notice to the commission, seeking a response by January 14.

The hearing has been subseqeuntly adjourned.
