Chitral SEZ completed; businessmen invited to apply for industrial units
PESHAWAR: Construction work on the Chitral Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has been completed, whereas the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Development Management Company (KPEZDMC) have invited interested parties to apply for plots to set up industrial units before December 30th.
This announcement was made by Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional Office Coordinator Sartaj Ahmad Khan and KPEZDMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Javed Khattak while briefing Chitral’s business community on Thursday.
The project is expected to be inaugurated this month.
Khattak said that the people of Chitral would be given preference in the allotment of plots for industries, expressing hope that the SEZ would create plenty of job opportunities for the locals of the area.
He urged women entrepreneurs to also consider investing in the new SEZ. “In this regard, plots sized 1 acre, 4 kanals and 2 kanals can be obtained by submitting a 25pc down payment and feasibility report.”
Khattak said that 10 more acres of land would be acquired for the Chitral SEZ in the near future.
Speaking on the occasion, Sartaj Ahmad Khan said that the establishment of the economic zone would not only provide employment opportunities to the youth of Chitral but would also establish the country’s economic and trade links with Afghanistan and Central Asian states.
“The FPCCI will help provide technical skills and training to the youth of Chitral so that they can participate in the new economic zone to become economically self-sufficient,” he added.
Besides Chitral, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also completed new economic zones in Nowshera, Ghazi and Jalozai.
