–Imran phones PML-Q leader, inquires after ailing Chaudhry Shujaat
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to allay the reservations of its biggest ally in Centre and Punjab, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), by forming a ministerial committee to meet with the leaders of the party and remove their reservations.
Reportedly, the prime minister took the decision after taking notice of the boycott by PML-Q of a luncheon meeting he had hosted a day back.
The committee, comprising Federal Ministers Asad Umar, Pervez Khattak and Punjab Governor Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar, is to meet the PML-Q leaders and address their concerns. They were also directed to file a report after meeting the Chaudhry brothers.
Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood confirmed the development and said that the PML-Q is an ally of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and they will meet soon to allay their reservations.
Separately, PM Imran has also telephoned PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to inquire about his wellbeing after he was admitted to Services Hospital Lahore due to breathing difficulties.
Chaudhry Shaafay Hussain said that Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed good wishes for ailing Chaudhry Shujaat.
“The prime minister said that he had a very special relationship of love and respect with Chaudhry Shujaat. He also prayed for immediate but full recovery of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain,” Shaafay said.
The PML-Q lawmaker said that the prime minister wanted to talk to Shujaat but could not do so due to his health issues.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar and Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi also visited Services Hospital and inquired after the health of the PML-Q leader.
PM Imran had been giving the Chaudhry brothers the cold shoulder since he assumed the position of prime minister of the country despite the PML-Q lawmakers supporting PTI in the Centre and Punjab.
Moreover, the premier has also refused the demands of the Chaudhry family to appoint Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as Punjab’s chief minister and their repeated efforts to get a ministerial slot for Moonis Elahi have also fallen on deaf ears.
The premier stated that cannot offer the ministerial slot to Moonis until the latter is cleared from a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case.
