‘No mask, no service’ policy at restaurants till right before stuffing food down face

As per the new government SOPs for dealing with the COVID-19, restaurants are not to accept patrons without masks till it is time to take off those masks to stuff food down their faces.

“It is our duty to be responsible businesses during these times of pandemic,” said Sohail Bhatti of Bhatti Bites, a Lahore-based outlet. “So we have a strict policy that the customers will only be admitted if they are wearing masks.”

“They will keep those masks on for about 10-15 minutes (in case of burgers) and 15-20 minutes (in case of desi order) after which they will remove those masks and open their mouths far and wide to consume our food.”

These views were echoed by Usman “Shani” Hassan, who was at the restaurant with his group of friends.

“My group and I wore our masks for a full twenty minutes,” he said. “Except Kami who had to wait outside because we were one mask short. We only took them off when the food came. The virus respects those who respect it. So it goes away when food arrives if you’ve been wearing the mask earlier.”
