ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed for making no compromise on the quality of facilities being provided in shelter homes.
The prime minister held a meeting here on the upgrading of five shelters in the federal capital and the establishment of a network of shelters across the country equipped with the best facilities. He said that labourers and helpless people staying in shelter homes, should be served in a manner to ensure protection of their self-esteem.
Expressing satisfaction over the establishment of model shelters in the federal capital and the standard of facilities provided in them, the premier said that it is the responsibility of the state to fulfil needs of the helpless and vulnerable and the government will leave no stone unturned to meet this requirement.
He instructed that workers and the needy living in the shelters should be served without any compromise on the quality of facilities in such a way as to ensure the provision of better food and accommodation facilities, as well as their self-respect.
PM Imran said that philanthropists will be encouraged for the establishment of standard shelters and expansion of their network. He said that since the Pakistani nation has a lot of spirit for civil service, the government will welcome such efforts.
He also, in principle, approved amending the Bait-ul-Maal law for the establishment of the network of shelter homes on a permanent basis.
The meeting was attended by the Special Assistant to the PM Dr Sania Nishtar, Minister of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Muhammad Ali Shehzada, Bait ul Maal (PBM) Managing Director, Aon Abbas Bappi, and other senior officials.
SAPM Dr Sania Nishtar briefed the premier in detail on the upgrading of five shelters located in the federal capital and the best facilities offered to poor labourers and other deserving people.
She told PM Imran that the data of people living in shelters is updated daily so that it is not only used to improve the service, but that it is also shared with those involved in the government’s efforts to noble cause.
PBM’s Managing Director Aon Abbas Bappi presented a roadmap to the prime minister regarding the expansion of the network of shelters throughout the country.
