PDMA releases compensation to affected families of North Waziristan

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released Rs180 million in financial assistance to more than 15,000 victim families of Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan district.

After verification of the families, the compensation amount will be disbursed to all. According to the PDMA Emergency Wing, each of the affected families in North Waziristan who have not yet been able to return to their homes will start receiving Rs12,000 per family via mobile SMS.  The spokesperson also said that this is the 73rd instalment of cash assistance to the victims of North Waziristan and will be given to 15,229 families.

PDMA Director-General (DG) Pervez Khan Sabtakhel said that apart from regular financial assistance to the victims every month, they are also giving ration packs containing food items on a monthly basis and other necessities.

Sabtakhel further said that the PDMA is striving to serve the people of the province without any discrimination against natural calamities.
