Faisal Edhi, the head of Edhi Foundation and the son of late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, tested negative for coronavirus on Wednesday after being diagnosed with the virus last month.
Faisal said that he has tested negative for COVID-19 by the grace of God. He added that he is also praying for the early recovery of all patients with COVID-19.
Faisal’s son Saad Edhi said that it was the third test conducted on May 4 at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) while the family received its report on Wednesday.
Saad said that his father underwent COVID-19 tests thrice within 17 days and spent isolation period from April 20 to May 6.
Last month, Faisal had travelled to Lahore and then to Islamabad, where he met Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on April 15 for donating Rs10 million on behalf of his organisation for PM’s COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Faisal began experiencing a severe headache and fever on April 16 after which he got himself tested for coronavirus. His tests came out positive on April 21 after which he went into self-quarantine in Islamabad. On April 29, he once again underwent a test, which came out positive as well.
Meanwhile, the premier had got tested after Faisal’s diagnosis and the results had come out negative.
Faisal’s son had said that he and other staff members, who recently interacted with him, had tested negative for the second time.
“Other family members, who are in Karachi, were not tested as they showed no symptoms,” Saad had said, requesting people to pray for his father’s speedy recovery.
