PESHAWAR: Six more people tested positive for coronavirus in Swat district on Sunday, hours after the localities of Irfanabad and Tramri of the federal capital was sealed after a small cluster of new cases of COVID-19 surfaced there.
Regarding the development in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Relief and Resettlement Department spokesperson told APP that the results of 36 suspected patients were received from the National Institute of Health (NIH) out of which 30 were negative while six came out positive.
He said that four positive cases belong to Rang Mohallah where coronavirus samples were collected from residents following an outbreak on April 4 while one case belongs to Shalpin Khwazakhiela and one was from Mohallah Watkai Shahdara.
He said the results of 91 more tests was being awaited. However, on the bright side, two patients, one each from Charbagh and Kanju, recovered on Sunday.
On the other hand, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Hamza Shafqat on Sunday said that Lane B-17 of Tramri was sealed after more confirmed cases were reported in the area.
“Four localities of Tramri – the main street, Lane C, Lane C-2 and Tramri Chowk – and also its adjacent Irfanabad area, were sealed on Thursday after 16 people residing there tested positive for coronavirus,” he said, adding that screening and testing of the family members and their contacts of those who tested positive were also conducted.
The health department, including the District Health Office (DHO), have expedited screening and testing of the people in the area while the concerned family members were asked to self-isolate.
According to the reports of the newly tested patients, these latest cases were all residents of Lane B-17.
“Details are also being collected from them about people whom they had met so they could be traced and tested,” the DC said.
