KP govt to announce relief package soon: CM

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mehmood Khan on Wednesday said that the provincial government would soon announce a relief package for the province in the wake of the pandemic.

Talking to media during his visit to District Headquarters Hospital in Khyber district, the chief minister said that the pandemic can only be defeated collectively with the public, government and military’s cooperation.

Seeking public support to overcome coronavirus, the CM said that all the precautionary measures had been taken for public safety but could only yield results if the masses cooperate and remain in self-quarantine.

Mehmood Khan said the government was working for constituting volunteer teams to assist the stoppage of the outbreak.

“The government is also appointing as many as 2,000 doctors on a contract basis,” he said, adding that 1,300 doctors had been appointed while the approval of 600 more doctors through public service commission had been granted.

On the occasion, KP Government Spokesperson Ajmal Wazir told media that no local case of corona had been reported from D. I. Khan district while all coronavirus affected patients at quarantine centres were Zaireen from other areas of the country.
