Urdu’s acclaimed novelist Nisar Aziz Butt passed away on Friday.
She was the sister of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sartaj Aziz.
Nisar wrote four novels in Urdu and also an autobiography. Her work includes ‘Karwan-e-Wajood’, Nagri Nagri Phira Musaafir’, Nay Chirag Nay Gulay’, ‘Darya Kay Sang’ (novels) and autobiography ‘Gaiy Dinoon Ka Suraag’. She also used to write columns under the title of “Literary Scene’.
Nisar had bagged first position in the matriculation examination in the then North West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and was also a gold medal-holder in MSc Mathematics from Punjab University.
