SARGODHA: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday handed death sentences to the custodian of a shrine in Sargodha and his three accomplices in a case involving the murder of 20 individuals.
The court handed 20 death sentences to Pir Abdul Waheed and his three accomplices and also ordered confiscation of their properties.
Abdul Waheed, who was the custodian of Darbar Ali Muhammad Gujjar, a shrine in Chak-95 of Sargodha, used a club and knives to kill his victims in April 2017.
The motive for the killings is unclear but some officials claim that the accused had mental health issues and had used violence on his disciples before.
Four women were also among the 20 victims, while four others were injured in the brutal incident including two women.
All victims were sedated before being murdered, reports claimed.
According to police, During the assault, 20 people were killed, among whom were six belonging to a single-family, while three were injured. Out of the three injured, one informed police.
The victims belonged to various parts of Punjab; 11 were from Sargodha, two from Islamabad, two from Layyah and one each from Mianwali and Pir Mahal, while one body of a woman could not be identified.
