LAHORE: Chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa on Saturday said that fake testimonies are the core reason behind injustice besides deterring the entire justice system of the country.
“It is the basic right of every citizen to get justice from the courts,” he said while adding that eyewitnesses give fallacious testimonies in murder cases all the time and it was dishonest testimonies had deprived citizens of justice.
While addressing a workshop at Judicial Academy, Khosa said that young lawyers and investigators are being provided with standard education while model courts are playing their role for speedy justice, thus lessening the burden on high courts; however, there was still a long way to go.
Talking about police reforms, the top judge revealed that a committee of nine judges has been formed to introduce reforms in the police system in addition to the establishment of a modern research centre to help judges in the provision of speedy justice.
He added facility of voice typing would also be provided to judges.
The CJP also said that special courts would be established to hear cases related to gender discrimination soon.
