ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Media (SAPM) Iftikhar Durrani has urged the media to verify the news before publishing or broadcasting it.
Talking to journalists, he requested media persons to file only authentic news items without disclosing their source.
Media department exists in each department of the government and the veracity of any news could be checked from the relevant department, he said and added that he was a middle-class person and neither supported any wrongdoing nor land grabbers.
He said the country was facing difficult situation and government would overcome difficulties in support with the government.
The country has earnings of only Rs 5.5 million whereas Rs 2 trillion per annum interest were to be paid on debts, he said and added that the federal government has to pay provinces their share too.
