Hanif Abbasi rushed to hospital amid deteriorating health

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi, who is serving a life sentence in the Ephedrine case, was rushed to the hospital from jail after his health deteriorated on Tuesday.

According to reports, Abbasi was taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology by jail authorities.

Abbasi had been unwell over the past several days but his condition worsened on Tuesday, reports said and added that he has clogged coronary artery.

In July 2018, Hanif Abbasi was sentenced to life imprisonment by an anti-drug court in Ephedrine quota case. The verdict in the ephedrine smuggling case was pronounced after a gap of six years, just days before the July 25, 2018 general elections.
