PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Friday appointed the first woman as a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
Hamida Bano, who is a grade 17 officer, was inducted as an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in police service in 1996. In 2005, she was posted in the Central Police Officer as a DSP.
She has served as DSP traffic in the last two years.
In a separate development, Asmat Ara, a grade 17 police officer who was previously Peshawar DSP traffic, was transferred to KP special branch.
Similarly, the KP inspector general (IG) appointed DSP Rozia Altaf as a DSP in the provincial Elite Force. Altaf is also the first female police officer to serve as a DSP in the Elite Force. Prior to this rank, she served as DSP Investigation and DSP Traffic.
