The body of a nine-year-old girl who had gone missing a day earlier was found in Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Friday morning.
The girl was reported missing at 10 pm on Thursday after she did not return from a madrassah where she went to receive Quranic lessons.
Her body was found from a graveyard near her house on Friday morning and had signs of torture. It was then shifted to a hospital for postmortem examination. According to Nowshera District Police Officer (DPO) Mansoor Aman, the postmortem examination suggested that she was raped before being murdered.
DPO Aman further said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged and a joint investigation team (JIT) has been constituted to investigate the minor’s death and to apprehend the culprits.
