After her last act in Padmaavat, Deepika Padukone is all set to create magic on the screens once again, this time portraying an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
The film directed by Meghna Gulzar is titled ‘Chhapaak’ or ‘Splash’
Currently, her character is undergoing prosthetic tests. The film will see Deepika star as Laxmi, while Lipstick Under My Burkha actor Vikrant Massey will play her partner Alok Dixit.
In the film, he plays a North Indian man who left his professional career for acting, and then, launched a campaign against acid violence, which is how he came to meet Laxmi in real life.
Deepika not only signed on to act in the film but is also co-producing this film, which will be shot in Mumbai and Delhi.
The director said that “Deepika agreed to do the film at the end of the narration and it was an organic process, along with the decision to co-produce the film as she wanted to remain close to it through the entire process.”
