No operation against shelters, stalls, small shops during anti-encroachment drive: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Friday directed anti-encroachment teams to not demolish shelters, small shops and stalls in Islamabad, sources said on Friday.

The prime minister passed the ordered after sounding strong criticism from opposition benches and the public.

A committee has been constituted to dig out a solution to the problem. State Minister for Interior Sheheyar Afridi will be the head of the committee. The committee will review the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) policy and give recommendations for an alternative option under the light of Imran Khan’s directions.

It will also formulate government police under the Supreme Court’s (SC) order.

It is pertinent to mention here that the prime minister has directed all departments to launch operations against encroachments in the city.
