A medical board appointed upon the directives of District and Sessions court confirmed that a 63-year-old man currently on death row suffers from schizophrenia and suggested treatment, a local media outlet reported on Monday.
The man, Saleem Ahmed, shot his sister to death in 2001 and was sentenced to death in 2004.
His execution was stayed in 2017 after a petition was filed by the Justice Project Pakistan (JPP).
Services Institute of Medical Sciences Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Mohsin Saqib suggested that Ahmed should be shifted to the Punjab Institute of Mental Health for treatment.
Hearing of the case has been adjourned till December 6.
