IHC rejects plea against newspaper’s editorial policy

ISLAMABAD: A petition against Dawn newspaper’s editorial policy was rejected by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.

Civil Society of Pakistan Chairman Muhammad Tahir had filed a petition against the English daily, requesting the court to uncover those responsible for the newspaper’s “anti-state policy”.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani of the IHC declared that the petition was “non-maintainable” and dismissed it. The petitioner’s legal counsel advocate Tahir Abdullah was present in the court at the time.

Justice Kiani observed that the proper forum to raise such issues was with the Press Council of Pakistan.
