The newly elected government has given a lot of material for the opposition and heartache for its followers with the ascension to important positions of some friends of the chairman of the ruling party. There’s Zulfi Bukhari, the dual national who got a special assistant position and then there’s Anees Musarrat, the British property tycoon who will not only be a critical part of a housing initiative by the government but also attended a cabinet meeting.

Tough to walk the talk.

At a function held for the visiting British Home Secretary, amidst the attendees, most of them decked up in formal western attire, in walks a gentleman in a kurta-shalwar.

A gate-crasher? No, it’s the Home Secretar Sajid Javid himself.

The son of one of the five children of Pakistani immigrants from Sahiwal, Javid might seem like a misfit in the Conservative party, but it is rumoured that he is set for an even higher position. Interesting times indeed.
