Court exempts Nawaz from appearing on Thursday

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court (AC) II of Islamabad on Wednesday granted an exemption to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from appearance before it in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment references on Thursday.

Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris filed a plea for exemption from appearance on Thursday as the day was reserved for visitors to meet the former prime minister at the Adiala Jail. AC Judge Arshad Malik accepted the plea.

During the proceedings, the decision of Islamabad High Court (IHC) over the change in the statement of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia was discussed.

Meanwhile, Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris refuted the claim of rejecting his objections regarding Zia’s statement.

During the hearing of the references, Khawaja Haris, the counsel for Nawaz Sharif, presented his arguments before the judge.

Nawaz attended the court proceedings. He was brought to the court under strict security arrangements from Adiala jail.
