Caught on camera: Geo News reporter physically assaults traffic warden

A reporter belonging to one of the mainstream news channels in Pakistan was caught on the camera while physically attacking a policeman during Youm-e-Shuhda.

It can be clearly seen in the video footage that Geo News reporter Ahmad Faraz, along with his two accomplices, not only assaulted the traffic warden in the latter’s office but also threatened him of dire consequences.


According to details, the crime reporter misbehaved with a traffic warden near Lahore’s Alhamra Hall. A Youm-e-Shuhda ceremony was held at the same hall for the brave soldiers of the police force who sacrifice their lives to protect the citizens.

The matter went out of hand when Faraz tried to manhandle the warden who tried his best to defend himself from the attack. While the reporter and his accomplices were intimidating the policeman, the senior staff members came to the rescue and defused the situation.

Even so, the scenes were already recorded by the CCTV cameras. People on social media and elsewhere criticised the crime reporter for trying to assert the power associated with his position.

Responding to the incident, Geo News said Faraz was suspended from his position and a fact-finding investigation was launched by the administration.
