WASHINGTON: United States (US) looks forward to working with the new government in Pakistan and to further the goals of security and stability in South Asia (SA), according to the US State Department.
A US State Department spokesperson said, “As Pakistan’s elected leaders form a new government, the US will look for opportunities to work with them to advance our goals of security, stability, and prosperity in SA.”
“We are concerned by reports of constraints placed on freedoms of expression, association, and the press leading up to the elections,” the spokesperson added.
A report circulated in foreign media outlets noted, “Investers are already expressing relief at the prospect of an outright win after expectations of a hung parliament.”
