ECP’s ‘check your vote’ service down

The Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) message service to “check your vote” stopped responding on election day.

The ECP’s message service, deemed as the world’s biggest voters’ Short Message Service (SMS), was implemented to facilitate 85 million voters throughout the country.

The service could be used by sending the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number to 8300. In response, the voter would receive voting details which included the electoral area, block code, Tehsil/District and Serial Number.

The people would be able to verify their registration and particulars in the voter-lists via SMS by paying just Rs 2 per message.
