Interim PM inaugurates first land-based communication link with China

ISLAMABAD: The Pak-China Optical Fibre Cable (PCOFC) project was inaugurated on Friday by Interim Prime Minister (PM) Justice (R) Nasirul Mulk.

The project was completed in two years and is the first land-based communication link between the two countries.

The interim PM said at the opening ceremony, “The project will contribute to the provision of state-of-the-art information and communication technologies facilities to far-flung areas of the country.”

He also said that the project would assist in “developing the telecom sector in northern areas and regions along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route” adding that, “The project would play a pivotal role for security requirements of CPEC projects.”
