KARACHI: The Judicial Commission on Water and Sanitation directed authorities on Saturday to clean the city’s ports immediately, a local media outlet reported.
The Supreme Court mandated commission also ordered authorities to establish waste treatment facilities and avoid dumping waste material into the sea that impacts marine life.
The Sindh High Court conducted a hearing on Saturday where important officials appeared. The commission ordered for the formation of a working group comprised of federal secretaries to oversee the cleaning process. The commission was informed that a task force headed by fisheries secretary had already been formed.
Jusitce (r) Amir Hani Muslim retorted that he would visit the port on Monday to oversee the process.
